Traveling with Clowns sans Frontiers through 11 different refugee camps I met and saw everything. The children, their hopes, their dreams, and their boundaries – both the internal and external kind. In the photos from this series everyone looks older – Even the children. Especially the children. The camera captured something fundamental about the reality of their existence. The suspicion, scepticism, and hesitation is plain for all to see. But the curiosity and the warmth they show when hope shines through is also there. These people are trapped, they’re shadows of the men, women and children they could and want to be.
